1st Soccer Game

Elijah's soccer game on Saturday was adorable. He did great and really, really loved it. David Beckham anyone? :-)

His fan club.

Taking the ball down the field.

Judah & Nana.

Cheese!

Judah with Grangoat.

Juice break.

He loves his Aunt Laur-Laur!

Judah did not want to be in the stroller but rather on the field!

Some action shots.

Playing goalie was his favorite and he did a great job of keeping the ball out of the goal.

More pictures from our weekend to come soon.

oh the rain

We have had A LOT of rain around here lately and I have to say that I really like it. It cooled things off and wasn't all big thunderstorms like we usually have around here. No threat of losing my electricity and scaring the dickens out of my dog and children, plus something fun to do outside since we can't swim anymore.

The kids across the street got in on the action.

It seems to have been "raining" around here the last week or so as well. I have had a very frustrating week. I have to work really hard not to dwell on the negative so when I have weeks that are especially hard, I have to pray and pray for God to make my eyes see the positive because we are so blessed. So let me give you a quick low-down and get this off my chest so maybe I'll feel better:
1. Lightning cut off our computer even though it's on a surge protector and we almost lost everything on it...I was sweating that out while Jason worked on it
2. Our main air conditioner quit working - it needs freon but you can't legally buy it and there are no window unit repairmen out there anymore, apparently
3. We don't have cable and the only kids channel we have that my boys LOVE just quit working. All of our other channels are fine but for some reason the reception on PBS just is not good. I have no idea what to do about it
4. Judah started a fun new screaming tactic (see below) including waking up in the middle of the night again
5. The swine flu has made its presence known at the preschool where I teach
6. It's been kind of a rough year at the preschool so far and my co-teacher was absent on Monday
7. I had to go to the dermatologist this week because the eczema on my hands reached a new level of painful
8. Headed to my regular doctor (whom I have never met because I've never needed to go since I moved my paperwork to him several years ago) because I had been having bad ear & head pain for over a week. My head felt like someone had hit me with a baseball bat and I was recovering with a very SORE head. They couldn't figure out what was wrong but thankfully it is now gone so I don't have to have that MRI
9. Oh, I'm sure there are more nit picky things but you get the general idea :-) Done ranting now, I promise.
----------------------------------------------------

Last weekend we went on a hike together near Denton. I didn't get too many pictures because we got attacked by mosquitos and had to cut it short, but we still had fun. Next time we'll remember the bug spray!

----------------------------------------------------

My cutie at the park near our house.

Now he looks all cute and innocent but recently this stinker has taken to throwing massive fits and yelling at me all day. If I tell him no - he yells, if I take something away from him - he yells, if we can't understand what he's trying to say - he yells, if he wants something - he yells for it, basically if we're not doing exactly what he wants all the time - he yells. It is glorious. Not really but he's already been in time out a few times for it and it seems to help a little. Phew...I knew he was gonna be a handful from the time when he was a newborn and would not sleep. We sure do love him though.

The boys were doing flips the other night,

and I just thought this was hilarious!

Have a great weekend! Elijah's first soccer game tomorrow morning and then I am off with my mother-in-law and two sisters-in-law for a girl's night tomorrow and then to Gainesville to hear Jason preach on Sunday and attend Lauren's wedding shower. YAY, it's getting close!

coming soon

For those of you that care, just wanted you to know that a blog post with new pictures is coming soon. We are just adjusting to our new kindergarten & preschool schedule and are exhausted in the meantime. Throw in a little soccer and we have full weeks. I figured family members that live far away were wondering what happened to us. We're still here. :-)

1st Day Back at Preschool

Yesterday it was back to preschool for me and Judah. It was weird not having Elijah with me but I guess I'll get used to that. Judah is in the toddler class this year - they sleep on nap mats, eat lunch at a table with little chairs, walk in a line, go to chapel, the whole nine yards. He seemed like such a big boy to me! :-(

The cutie pie with his backpack (that is about as big as he is and it's a little one too)

Walking to class with his nap mat. Thanks Nana - his teachers said he slept great on it! Mommy couldn't believe he fell asleep on the floor!

He had a great first day and when I went to pick him up he squealed & laughed and ran away from me - he didn't want to leave. Not the same Judah I had left that morning crying and carrying on, but his teacher said he had stopped within a few minutes after I left. My class was good too - exhausting first day as usual but I expect a great year!

Movin' on UP...literally.

We always talked about when Judah got older, we were going to get the boys bunk beds. Jason's aunt has two boys that are now grown, and had offered us their bunk beds a while back. They went to Gainesville this past weekend and passed them off to Jason's parents. While we weren't expecting to set them up so soon, we went ahead and did it and Elijah was just THRILLED about it!

Here is his room before:

And after:

We moved the fish net over here:

Judah tried so hard to get up on the bottom bunk (his future bed) because it's lower to the ground than the other bed was.

He finally succeeded and was so proud! I think until we move him in here (at least 2 1/2 - 3 years old before we do that), Elijah can have friends sleep on the bottom when they spend the night. I figure he's getting to that age now where he'll want to do that.

Elijah all ready for bed and proud to be on top!

Good night, sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite!

Reunion

We had a family reunion with my mom's side this weekend in Marble Falls at camp. We had a good time...here is our weekend in pictures:

The kids came up with a game of jumping off the lifeguard chair into the swimming hole. Elijah wasn't too sure at first,

but in a few minutes was having a blast!

There goes Jonathan!

Katherine with her two little brothers, Jonathan & Kristopher.

Cousins Katherine, Ande and Kendall.

Lots of cousins - some of my first cousins & their spouses. I think we had over 30 people - about 13-15 of them were kids. They all had so much fun playing together.

Jason & Andrew hangin' by the swimming hole.

Me and the Judebug.

Elijah didn't want in on this action: cousins Caden & Katherine, Courtney & Caroline, Ande & Kendall, and Erin & Colby.

Elijah munching on his popsicle.

We had a talent show on Sat night. Elijah & Jonathan did flips.

Andrew & Katherine had a duet - they are so talented, really.

Poor Kirk was dared to eat a spoonful of cinnamon - he was a little sick afterwards. :-)

Me, my mom and sister can all touch our tongues to our noses.

And Jason was tricked by Katherine and ended up with soaking wet pants!

Right before we left, we cooked out hot dogs and smores down by the lake.

We are hoping to make this an annual thing - since my grandmother passed away a few years ago, we don't all see each other very often anymore since we're all married with families. I am the youngest cousin of 7 - all but 2 came. Hope everyone had a Happy Labor day with their families!
