Start Gearing up for October & November!!!

One weekend in October (probably the 14th - 16th) I plan to have a fundraiser garage sale for our adoption, so start saving up your "junk" for me!!! I'd also love to sell baked goodies at the garage sale if you would rather donate something like that. Start spreading the word!!!

November holds an adoption t-shirt sale fundraiser...the entire month of November our family will be the partner family on this website: http://duboisadoption.com/. All proceeds from t-shirts purchased from this website during the month of November will go towards our adoption costs. Don't buy them yet, but mark this website and start spreading the word to BUY THESE T-SHIRTS IN NOVEMBER!!! When the website is updated with our family info, I will post it asap.

And don't forget about our coffee website over here too ---------------->

In 2 days we will have been on the wait list for 2 MONTHS!!! Every day gets us closer to bringing our baby girl home...thank you for your love and support of these upcoming fundraisers.

1st Grade

Well, I can't believe it but my big boy started first grade on Monday. After a little hesitation leading up to the day, he was ready to go that morning!

He's very proud of his new Star Wars backpack...and shoes (which you can't see).

Gotta get a picture with brother...

Dad...

and Mom...

He thought it was way cool that he has his own desk, but asked where all the toys were in the classroom. Ha! I told him it wasn't kindergarten anymore and they didn't get to play in class as much...hence the big stack of books on his desk. I think that was a wake-up call! :-)

He also thinks it's neat that he has a locker instead of a cubby.

This is his 1st grade teacher, Mrs. White. She was recommended to me for Elijah by his kindergarten teacher and so far she seems very sweet. I think she will be a good fit for him.

After school we went to Braum's for our now annual first-day-of-school ice cream!

Judah got in on the ice cream action as well. What a goofball!

Amos & End of Summer Fun + No Training Wheels

Meet Amos.

He's between 1-2 years old, boxer/bull terrier/rhodesian ridgeback mix (aka MUTT :-), out of the puppy stage, very calm, very sweet, loves our boys, already crate & potty trained, not much of a barker or jumper, full grown at about 40 lbs and is a beautiful red color.

Elijah adores him. He's been a great addition to our family so far but Trigger is still missed. We got Amos last Saturday...he was at a Petco adoption event from the Haltom City Animal Shelter.

On Tuesday, my mom took me, the boys and cousin Jonathan to Six Flags for some end of the summer fun. It was HOT but we had a great time and it wasn't very crowded. First stop was the carousel:

Very serious about the carousel.

Then we ran into some characters...

Elijah and Jonathan were big enough to ride a lot of things by themselves, like the Mexican hat:

and the Mini Mine Train:

Judah wished he was big enough to ride :-(

The boys loved the big train that went all the way around the park.

Hot, sweaty boys.

The Batmobile...mommy got to ride the Batman ride by myself since there were no lines.

The Looney tunes rides - Judah was so happy to find some things for him to ride too.

Of course we did the log ride and splash water falls to cool off, and I was so proud of Elijah because he rode the Shockwave with me!!! I think Jonathan had a lot to do with that since he wasn't scared but still, Elijah did great even though he was literally in shock the whole time...afterwards, I think he really enjoyed it. We had a great time...thanks mom!

Thursday, I didn't get any pictures, but we met our friends the Ellises at NRH2O waterpark for the afternoon and then went to eat barbecue with them for dinner. They were so kind to invite us to use their free guest passes and our whole family was able to go. Thanks so much guys, we had a great time and Elijah enjoyed playing with Foy. Even Judah got to go down one of the big slides in a double tube with me. Too bad we were too wet for pictures.

Yesterday we met Ellie, Deacon and Brynlee for our last summer playdate before Elijah starts 1st grade and Ellie starts kindergarten. Their a/c had gone out so they had stayed the night at a hotel the night before. We joined them at the hotel to swim and then they went home to their fixed a/c...yay!!! Can't believe those two are both old enough to be in elementary!

Yesterday afternoon, Jason taught Elijah to ride his bike without training wheels. Elijah finally showed interest in learning and it literally only took him about 30 minutes to get the hang of it. We are so proud of him...here is a short video.

Absence

My absence lately has been for a variety of reasons that I won't go into except to say that it has been a very stressful few weeks. I have not taken any pictures and have not felt like blogging. We have some fun end-of-the-summer activities planned this week that I will blog about later, and we got a new dog yesterday. His name is Amos...he is sweet, sweet, sweet and I will post pictures of him soon. I am hoping to get back into the blogging groove soon. I cannot believe that Elijah starts 1st grade in a week...I am sure I will blog about that too. So look for something soon...oh, and no word on our sweet baby girl...yet. We will not know anything until we get "the call" and that gets closer and closer with every passing day.
